Tortilla Pie

1 cup
tomato sauce
3⁄4 cups
1⁄4 cup
cilantro (chopped)
2 teaspoons
chili powder
1 teaspoon
corn tortillas (6 inch)
30 ounces
black beans (canned, rinsed and mashed)
4 ounces
green chilies (canned, chopped)
1⁄2 cup
mexican cheese blend (low-fat, shredded)


1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine sauce, salsa, cilantro, chili powder and cumin in a small bowl.

2. Heat tortillas n large non-stick pan over medium heat. Remove from heat.

3. Spoon 1/4 cup tomato sauce mixture over bottom of 9 inch pie plate. Top with a tortilla and 1/4 cup sauce. Spread with 1/2 cup mashed beans, top with 2 tablespoons chilies and 1 tablespoon shredded cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients to form 3 more layers and then top with remaining sauce and cheese.

4. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake another 5 minutes until sauce bubbles around edges.
